So, just the other day I went to this producer. Phil Collins, perhaps you’ve heard about him? Anyway, I sang for him and the girl. Afterwards they told me I was very talented, but if I wanted the music contract I would have to change some things about myself. I thought to myself, that can’t be so bad, until they started telling me what things they requested. According to them almost everything was wrong, my teeth’s were too crooked, my hair was too short, I could lose a few pounds and they even told me my kneecaps looked weird. I am not even mentioning half of the mean things they said. And I used to think I was pretty, so this was like a big punch in the face. Phil told me I could think about it over night and call them today instead. Just before I started writing this I was on the phone with him and told him my decision.

When I got home from the producer I felt I had some big things to think over. I knew I wanted to be an artist more than almost anything, but was I ready to give up myself and everything I stand for just to reach me dreams? The whole point of me wanting to be famous was just so I could show children that they could be anything they ever dreamed about, without having to be flawless, if they just tried! But still, this was my big chance, I’ve been waiting so long for this so why shouldn’t I follow my heart? I could always be this fake version of myself for a year or something and when the rest of the world have accepted me I could show them the real me. But what if I got stuck! I think my decision was made the same time they mentioned the word plastic surgery. I’ve always been against it and always thought that people who did it was really going to regret it when they got older. If I sometime in the future had my big breakthrough, it would be with my own values still intact.

So a word of advice to you out there, of course you should follow your dreams, just don’t lose yourself on the way.
